The Eye Appointment
My last pair of contact lenses were finally deteriorating, so I made a call to order a new box. Unfortunately, it seems my last exam was in 2006. That means it was time to make an appointment to have them tested again. Mind you, I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old, and contacts since I was 17. I have been to numerous eye appointments over the past several years. I don't mind it, but I have found that I do not like this doctor. I go there because he's the least expensive. The initial stuff went fine. Then he came into the office and read my chart. "So, I see you wrote that you change your contacts every 3 weeks". Then proceeded to write down that I was "non-compliant" since they are suppose to be changed every 2 weeks. Of course, what he doesn't know is that I can make a pair of contacts last me 3 months ;). Then he asked me what I do for a living. I replied that I was a Mom. His response? "Is that all?" I could have slapped him! It seems that society is always trying to disregard the importance a Mom is to her family. I could have given him an earful if I started listing all that I do on any given day; but I doubt he would have appreciated it. He is probably still at his office doing what he was doing while I was there this morning. In the meantime I have done 2 loads of laundry, fixed lunch, and continue to help 5 children with their schooling. I wonder who will be most satisfied with what they have accomplished today.
